Title: Donate to Aid the Washburns Through Medical Crisis

Hello, my name is Bano and I am raising funds for my good friends, the Washburn family. Jon Washburn, a close friend and former co-worker, has been suffering from diabetes for many years and it has affected his kidneys. He is retired and has recently started dialysis for Stage Five ESRD (end-stage renal disease).

His wife, Vonuo, is taking time off work to care for him and is currently receiving training to start the dialysis treatment from home. Due to this, she is losing pay and they are in a difficult situation financially. The cost of treatment, compounded by their monthly mortgage and utility expenses, has left them in need of help from friends and the greater community.

We would like to appeal to our friends and community to contribute in whatever way possible. This family has helped me and my family in our time of need. They opened their home and their hearts to me when I was an international student decades ago. Jon edited my essays and helped me with my English when I first arrived in the States. They extended their hands to the international student community in California and Maine and Jon served the community for many years as an ESL teacher. Finally, they invited my family to stay with them once again when we moved up to Maine and had no place to go.

They have been such a blessing to me and my family as well as the people around them.
