Help Aid Ron's Battle with T-Cell Lymphoma
Donation protected
The "nutshell" version of a very long, complicated health journey......Ron bumped the top of his head on a machine at the beginning of February. It became infected so doctors started him on antibiotics. The antibiotics did not work so they gave him different antibiotics which also didn't work. Fast forward..... 3 ER visits later he was admitted to the hospital with a serious staph/sepsis infection throughout his body. He has been in the hospital now for about a month and there is no sign of being able to go home yet. It's a very complicated health situation, to say the least. He was having chills and high fevers every day, some getting as high as 104/105. He has had numerous procedures and surgeries to try to figure out why he wasn't getting better, even with all of the IV antibiotics for the infection and other treatments.
After a bone marrow biopsy and lung lymph node biopsies, the diagnosis is that he has a very rare form of T-Cell Lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system) and a secondary HLH diagnosis. He is currently in the ICU with many complications. They started Chemo right away because this cancer is very aggressive and has spread to his lungs, making breathing a struggle. We are hopeful that the chemo treatment will start to improve his situation so he can go home, but he has a long road ahead of him to fight this cancer.
Ron does not have paid time off at his job as a machinist and he will not be able to work for a long time as it looks right now. Michelle is a 1st grade teacher and she has been at the hospital with Ron the entire time so she is currently on family leave from work. Their 4 kids really miss having their dad at home. Gavin (17), Chloe (16), Sophia (13) and Brayden (9). They are so very thankful for everyone who has been able to support them during this challenging time. THANK YOU for your kindness and generosity!
