On May 22nd, I went to the local emergency room for an unrelated issue and, during a CAT scan, they found a massive 30lb tumor. It had been missed for years by my general practitioner, and was now so large it was destroying my kidney. After an emergency surgery and two weeks in the hospital, the diagnosis came back as a rare form of cancer called a Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma.
At the end of August, I went in for my first 3 month scan and it turns out that the cancer has come back and spread aggressively.
I'm now healing from the abdominal surgery, the loss of one kidney, and moving on to find my "new normal" with the cancer treatments and clinical trials.
Funds will be used to pay for incurred hospital bills, travel to cancer centers, and medications.
