On April 4, 2025, John "Peyton" Steele Stoner was admitted to the ER with a diagnosis of Rhabdomyolysis and Compartment Syndrome after being found down in his home. Rhabdomyolysis is a serious medical condition that can be life-threatening. Damaged muscle tissue releases waste into the bloodstream. "Rhabdo" is a rare condition and causes kidney damage. Compartment Syndrome is an equally dangerous condition caused by pressure buildup from internal bleeding. You may remember Rhabdomyolysis from an episode of House!
Peyton's health is currently being monitored at the hospital, receiving dialysis daily. He will be receiving surgery to try to repair his arm on April 14, 2025. The surgeons are trying to create a skin graft for his arm because that is where the Compartment Syndrome is localized. Although he can move his right arm, his left arm is swollen to the size of a watermelon. We are truly thankful to all the medical staff at Erlanger for taking care of my brother and saving his life.
Although Peyton is as strong as an ox, we ask for help paying medical bills, household essentials, and daily expenses. Peyton is a 3rd year electrician's apprentice (IBEW) working for Allied Electric. He also attends night classes at the apprenticeship school at the IBEW. Peyton is an outstanding student and a dedicated worker.
Peyton is cared for by his mother (Cara) and sister Dara (me!). His mother is a household cleaner, and I am a clinical therapist. Peyton also has a vast network of friends he can rely on in his social circle. I know that Peyton will return to his old self with everyone's prayers. The journey may be long, but Peyton is not a quitter!
All of us accept and greatly appreciate any donation. A nice word or two would make Peyton's day, even if you cannot donate. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. ♡
"All praise and glory is yours, Lord our God, for you have called us to serve you in love. Bless Peyton., so that he may bear this illness in union with your Son's obedient suffering. Restore him to health, and lead him to glory. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen."
