My Name is Lindsay Huhn I am setting this up to help my best friend with bills or whatever they need while going through what they are right now. Her son is 2 years old and has been in and out of the hospital his whole life. Please read the story below to understand more of what’s going on. Thank you for any help anyone can do ❤️

In February Maverick had to have a surgery to close up his g tube site as it wasn’t naturally closing on its own. He had surgery on February 24th and 4 days later had a nasty infection. We were admitted to the hospital for a week to treat the infection with antibiotics.
The infection gradually went away, but mavericks food tolerance dwindled.
He wasn’t able to keep foods (even soft food like mashed potatoes and bread) down. He couldn’t keep water, or even juice down without projectile vomiting. It led up to him only drinking 2 oz of juice but throwing up 10-12 oz of said juice and stomach acid as well as coffee ground like blood. Since the surgery and the infection, he has throw up every single meal. EVERY MEAL. Breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and all fluids he was in taking.
I was substituting liquid IVS in mavericks fluids to ensure he wasn’t dehydrated.
For the past three months we have been to countless GI appointments, meeting with the surgery team, and many many trips to USA as we knew something wasn’t right with him.

I spoke to his GI doctor on May 29th and he just virtually called me and prescribed 2 acid reflux medications.
Those did not work.
I brought him back to the hospital on May 31st and finally they saw how much weight he had lost from not being able to hold anything down, and saw just how much he was throwing up
They checked his weight and saw he went from 25 lbs to 19. He had lost 6LBS!
Skin and bones when he laid down and spine protruding outward.
I had the doctors run a stomach emptying test, which he passed with flying colors so we know it’s not him not being able to eat or clear his system.
They ran a scope under general anesthesia down his throat. That is where they found a hernia where the scar from his g tube site is. The wall never healed corrected and the hernia just gradually got bigger.
They also found that he has chronic immune system disease that causes inflammation in the esophagus. It occurs when eosinophils, a type of white blood cell, build up in the esophagus, causing damage and inflammation. They’ve found yeast infection in his esophagus, a stomach ulcer, and puss and inflammation in his stomach.
They put him on two different medications but he was still throwing up even just a liquid diet at the hospital (broth, jello, and juice/water)
They ultimately decided to place a picc line in his chest to administer fats and nutrients as he was severely malnourished at just 2 years old.
We had been here for 2 weeks when he finally started to eat and not get sick.
We were discharged on Friday, June 14th and are now back and admitted at USA once more for the same chronic vomiting and weight loss. We were re admitted on June 16th.
He has lost 10 oz since discharge.
We don’t know what the plan is at this point other than them having to place another Picc line in his chest for added nutrients and fats again.

Maverick is just two years old and has spent half of his life in the hospital.
Overcame every obstacle since birth. Having a g tube placed a month after he was born, to finally getting it out 2 years later on Valentine’s Day, we finally thought we could breathe and he’d finally get somewhat of an idea of normalcy as a child.
Then came infections and illnesses to a weakened immune system.
All the while we take care of a sick child in the hospital, we have another child that my husband stays home with while I stay here at the hospital unable to work. The bills still come, yet the money slows because I can’t leave him here.

We just recently moved about 3 months ago, and that is when Maverick started throwing up the way he was and I’ve had to take a lot of time off to try and get answers which ultimately didn’t come until may 31st 2025.
