Dear Facebook Friends and Followers,
I have yet to create a GoFundMe page on Facebook until today. I am reaching out to all of you to ask for help for my younger sister, Marilyn. She has always been a pillar of strength and although the youngest in our family, there have been many times over the years that it has been she that has stepped forward at times we needed her. She cared for our mother until her dying day as well as devoted a good part of her life taking her grandsons and daughter under her wing. Several years ago, her husband of 25 years died unexpectedly in his sleep. He did not have life insurance and, making matters even worse, it was the tail end of COVID and he wasn't working, so as a result, she was left financially strapped. When she finally did go back to work, she worked two full-time jobs in order to keep a roof over her family’s head at jobs that were not secure. She has struggled with many unforeseen obstacles over these last few years, causing her to face financial danger to her and her family’s well-being. Just the same, she never gave up her positive attitude and her incredible optimism.
She now lives alone as her daughter has remarried and unfortunately, her problems have gotten even worse. She lost her job, is not getting unemployment, her car has been broken for over two months, several of her accounts have been hacked into, she is several months behind on her rent and utility bills, and most recently has been diagnosed with heart and lung problems which she now is struggling with the astronomical co-pays that she doesn’t have.
I have always looked out for my “little” sister and I am the only one she has to help her and that she can turn to. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to help her with the overwhelming financial problems she is now facing. I am hoping this will raise enough money to get her back on her feet; otherwise, I don't know how she will ever survive this. I will never turn my back on her; however, she will not ask anyone for help, so I am reaching out on her behalf. Although she is diligently searching for employment, she needs financial support immediately and I am praying that this GoFundMe post will possibly be the answer.
I am aware that many of you have problems of your own and I am not asking anything from those of you that are also struggling. However, there are many of you that can help, even with just a small donation that will add to the additional generosity of others and together we can help her with this emergency she is facing. At 68 years old, a widow living alone should not have to face what she is presently facing.
Marilyn, when you read this, I know that you will feel as though you will lose your dignity and this might embarrass you seeing your personal problems being publicly displayed. However, you have helped many people in your lifetime and now it is your turn to have others help you.
I want to thank all of you in advance for any small donation that you can afford to give to help my sister.
Sincerely,
Linda Traitz
