Dear Friends and Family,

We are saddened to share the challenging situation that Leslie Ramirez and her partner Paul Avalos are currently facing. On October 24th Leslie and Paul arrived at the labor and delivery room with the excitement to finally be able to meet their baby. Unfortunately, Leslie suffered a stroke and a seizure while in labor which led to an emergency C-Section to save the baby’s life. While we are happy to report the beautiful baby boy was born healthy, Leslie has not had the chance to meet her new baby because she never regained consciousness. The doctors have performed many medical exams and have determined the strokes and seizures Leslie suffered have left her with multiple blood clots in her brain and was getting occasional seizures after the stroke. The doctors are currently treating Leslie, but are uncertain of the damage the strokes and seizures caused and if she will be able to fully recover, but are expecting her rehabilitation to be long.
Due to Leslie’s condition, her partner Paul and Leslie’s mother, Cynthia, are doing their best to care for both the newborn and Leslie’s two older children, Camila age 10 and Damian age 14. Paul, a first-time father has had to stop working to care for his newborn and currently has no income. Due to her condition, Leslie was unable to sign and recognize Paul as the father after the baby was born causing the state to deny his FMLA application and creating a string of other legal issues to be able for him to be recognized by the state as the father. Leslie's mother has also had to unexpectedly stop working and go without pay to care for her two other grandkids. In addition, both Paul and Cynthia have found themselves taking frequent hospital visits, and talking with doctors and lawyers which has left both of them with a big financial strain.
Any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated by them during these difficult times.
In addition to any financial assistance, we deeply appreciate your prayers for her healing and strength. Your kindness and support during this difficult time mean the world to us.
With gratitude,
The Ramirez and Avalos Family

Queridos amigos y familia,
