Calling in Support for Katana & Matt

In late March, our beloved Katana received an intensive diagnosis of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, centered around her stomach. This was an extremely aggressive cancer of the lymphatic system, and it sent her into a code-red fight for her life.

Because Kat is a kidney transplant patient, her diagnosis carried many complications and unique challenges. For months she had been feeling terrible, suffering from severe stomach pain, even after having her gallbladder removed. Finally, after so much uncertainty, the truth was revealed and treatment began *immediately.*

Kat was admitted into intensive chemotherapy while also enduring some pretty brutal complications. One of the hardest was a blocked small intestine caused by scar tissue, she couldn’t eat or even drink water for months. Between March and now, she’s spent over four months in the hospital undergoing treatments and navigating one health battle after another.

Through it all, Kat has shown us the soul of a true warrior priestess. Witnessing her courage and spirit has been heart-wrenching and deeply inspiring. If you know Kat, you know her radiance, always there for others, embodying compassion, love, and devotion in ways few ever do.

This summer amidst her chemotherapy , she underwent a major surgery where part of her small intestine was removed and reattached to healthy cells. Through every stage of this fight, her partner Matt has stood unwaveringly by her side. He has driven her to every appointment, sat through every hospital stay, cared for their animals (3 serpents, 2 dogs, and a cat), managed the household, and shown the truest face of unconditional love.

Because of this, Matt has been unable to work. They’ve taken loans from family just to stay afloat while he devoted himself completely to her care.

The good news: Kat is officially in remission!!!

She is slowly recovering from surgery and beginning the process of detoxing from the heavy medications. But she still requires full-time care, frequent doctor visits, and steady support at home.

This is where we come in. Kat and Matt are nearing the end of their loans, yet she still needs Matt home by her side in this crucial phase of healing. We are calling on community love to raise $10,000, enough to give them a couple more months of stability so Kat can fully heal and Matt can continue to care for her without the crushing stress of finances.

Kat has touched countless lives with her love, compassion, presence and generosity. Now is our chance to give back.
