Hello . My name is Ellen Kaplan and I’m trying to help my niece achieve the best in caring for her mother at home after she suffered a massive stroke. Left for “dead,” the medical team gave her no positive outcomes. She has achieved more than anyone thought possible through constant loving care by her daughter, Jennifer, who struggles financially to make ends meet. Being told by the state of MS that “family members can’t get paid by the state” for giving 24-hour care, Jennifer also struggles with getting the personal care items that she was told insurance would pay for. Months have passed by and still no word on items like incontinent supplies and food for a tube-fed patient. The system has failed her miserably.
