My name is Sarah Voss, and I am starting this fundraiser to help my best friend, Janelle, and her husband, Jonathan. They're both wonderful and dedicated music teachers for the Blair Community Schools, and are also loving and devoted parents to their two children, Emmett and Lily. Emmett is about to leave for his first year of college, and Lily—who just turned 16!—is a busy junior involved in color guard, show choir, and dance.
While they are both always upbeat and make everything seem alright on the outside, they have experienced significant struggles lately, and could use the help of friends and others who know and love them.
Over this last year, their family was affected by the 2024 Arbor Day Tornado and had to have minor repairs, such as a roofing replacement. This spring, Janelle's mom was diagnosed with cancer, which has taken an emotional toll on everyone. This week, they were hit with a terrifying medical crisis.
On Tuesday, August 5th, Jonathan experienced a life-threatening medical event due to a saddle pulmonary embolism, which required two ambulance rides, and a hospitalization for a few days. Of course, there will be the need of ongoing outpatient care.
While we are grateful for the EMT’s, doctors, nurses, and all the support Jonathan has received, the unexpected medical bills will be accumulating quickly! Jonathan and Janelle struggled with the decision on whether or not I start this fundraiser. We know they are the kind of people who will always be there for others, so now it is our turn to be there for them. Any donation, no matter the size, will help them focus on Jonathan’s recovery, and their family, instead of worrying about the mounting financial concerns. Any support you can offer will make a world of difference. Thank you for your kindness.
