We want to reach out to this community to share our sister’s story.
On Monday, June 1st, during the 5th race at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, N.Y., she was involved in a horrendous horse racing accident. She is currently hospitalized and undergoing treatment for serious injuries, including two fractured ribs, three additional displaced rib fractures, multiple abrasions, a lacerated liver, facial trauma and an air pocket near her lung.
The accident was caused by pressure from an outside rider, which forced her to make a split-second and selfless decision to protect the inside rider. Her quick thinking and bravery in that moment were nothing short of heroic. She stood her ground — and in doing so, took the worst of it. She clipped heels and went down face first.
She was unconscious when the ambulance arrived, but thankfully, the Racetrack EMTs were able to revive her and get her safely to the hospital in Rochester.
Her story is just one of many in the racing world, but this one hits home for us. She has always put others before herself, and now she faces a long road to recovery. She will likely be out of work for three months.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story. We wanted to share it — not only to raise awareness but to honor her courage and strength. We love you Jackie ! ✨☺️. Get better.
