For those who do not know me my name is Cynthia Malone. nicknamed Sandy.
Cynthiaharless1 on Blue sky.
I am a retired clinician, psychology - specialized in addiction in mental health for 36 years. I am retired and severely disabled. My daughter Brandy, who is my angel - lives with me. Brandy is blind from birth with intellectual disabilities. We have no living family, nor any close by friends.

I have been hospitalized since March 30th of at Vanderbilt medical center for a month and a half and then transferred to a skilled nursing facility and have been here 7 weeks.

I have had many hospitalizations over the last few years that has taken every bit of my 401k as I only have Medicare as insurance.

I have always been the helper and not the helpee - that said, it has been extremely hard for me to make the decision to start this GoFundMe. Also, I know that right now everyone is struggling, which makes it even harder for me to ask for help.
Since hospitalized I've had to have a sitter for my daughter as she couldn't be left alone and that was very expensive and drained last amount of savings I had.

I am about to be discharged because Medicare only a lots so many skilled nursing days.
I will go home with absolutely no help, and unable to do anything for myself.

I have been diagnosed with end stage respiratory failure, and end stage congestive heart failure. (This can be verified by my pulmonologist and cardiologist at Vanderbilt medical center)
They gave me 6 months to a year. My pulmonologist sat down beside me at Vanderbilt, held my hand and told me this
I have had absolutely no one to help me go through this, that has been by my side in any way except for the folks here on this platform.

It has been devastating to receive such news, and not have anyone physically by my side to help me go through this. I cannot tell you how alone I feel and how helpless I feel.

When I'm discharged, I am going home to only palliative care. I decided on palliative care instead of hospice, because with hospice Medicare will NOT allow you to continue needed treatments.
Palliative care - Medicare will pay for. But with palliative care a nurse, or nurse practitioner comes once per week. And does not include any type of home Health service.
Medicare does not pay for any type of home health aide to assist me in any way. I'll be needing help with meal preparation, bathing, and every aspect of life. My physical limits are just from the hospital bed to the bedside commode. And I will not have help with even emptying that.

I will be discharged to a hospital bed, without any help whatsoever. My daughter due to her disabilities is unable to help me or assist me in any way.

I have no living family, I have no close by friends to help.

You've been my family for years, so I'm coming to you in hopes that you can help me raise the money for a home health aide to help me.
Also, some of the medications they had me now on the co-pays are extremely expensive.
The hospital bed copay will be more of than I can afford, $75 a month plus my oxygen - I'm on 5 liters of oxygen and the copay for that is $50 a month.
And a newly approved FDA pulmonary drug is over 26,860 a month with a $600 copay. And this isn't even mentioning all of my other medications that I have copays with, and my monthly RX premium payments. The cost for the medications are astronomical

But the most important thing right now is having an home health aide to help me with daily living.
I've called around and the home health aide companies are extremely expensive. Some are over $40 an hour. I live in the state of Tennessee and there are some that have rates of between $13 and $15 an hour.

I am scared to death to go home alone without help. I know I won't survive.
If anyone needs verification of anything I've said, I would be happy to send it to you. Both Andy Behrman and Jennifer Mason (Jen) can verify all of this as they have both a full access to my medical records and are both listed as advocates.

If you can help me in any way with a donation so I can hire a home health aide, I would be eternally grateful.
I want to try to live as long as I can for my daughter's sake.
She will have no one once I'm gone.

Thank you in advance for reading my story. Thank you in advance for any donation you may feel led to give

Please pray for my precious daughter Brandy. And pray for me that God grants me extra time with my precious girl.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
