Help Support Busola Through Her Recovery & Medical Hardship

Many of you know Busola as a bright, loving, and essential presence in the lives of so many children and families in her community. She has been a caregiver, teacher, coworker, friend, and source of comfort for countless families throughout Central Texas.

Busola has dedicated her life to early childhood education — working as an Infant/Toddler/Pre-K teacher at several Head Start agencies, and supporting families with compassion, patience, and unwavering care. She touched the lives of everyone she worked with, including myself, and she has always been someone who gives far more than she ever asks for.

Sadly, Busola’s health took a severe and unexpected turn in January 2019. What began as fatigue and pain quickly escalated into a medical emergency that required blood and iron transfusions. Complications led to a major fibroid removal surgery, months of hospitalizations, rehab, and home health support.

Despite extensive treatment, Busola continued to experience debilitating symptoms — severe pain, nausea, dizziness, vomiting, and constant fatigue. Specialists have struggled to determine the exact cause of her symptoms, and her condition has remained complex and life-altering for nearly six years.

Current Update — 2025

Busola’s condition has not improved, and this year her mobility declined significantly. She now relies on a wheelchair for most movement and is working incredibly hard through therapy to return to using a walker again.

She recently underwent another surgery, which has added new medical bills on top of years of existing debt. Because of her condition, Busola has been unable to work since 2019, and she still has no health insurance. Her medical costs, tests, specialist visits, therapies, transportation needs, and daily living expenses are overwhelming and continue to grow.

Despite everything, Busola remains hopeful, resilient, and determined to regain her mobility and quality of life.
