For anyone that knows Bill Aucoin, one thing everyone will say about him is he always jumps to help anyone in need. Whether it’s a professional relationship you have with Bill or personal relationship, he never shies away from doing whatever he can to help people… even strangers. At work, Bill always goes above and beyond to help his partners and his customers and is known for his kind temperament and his eagerness to make people’s lives better and their businesses more successful. In his personal life, Bill has been a rock for his family throughout the years. When Bill lost his mother and his sister several years ago, he took in his elderly father and has been caring for him ever since. Bill’s son just returned home from the military, and he has been caring for him and providing a place for him to live. Bill’s oldest daughter, who has been struggling with a number of health problems, rests comfortably under the umbrella of Bill’s support and his roof. Bill still has two kids in high school and he works overtime to be present for them both- most recently, teaching his daughter how to drive a car. Bill is a family man and a man of his community and a treasure to all that know him. Bill’s family’s survival depends on Bill’s ability to work.
Today, Bill needs our help.

On Mother’s Day, Bill suffered a significant and traumatic fall and has sustained a very serious spinal cord injury. Bill was care flighted to the hospital where he has undergone two major spinal surgeries, but his current situation is very concerning. Bill has lost mobility in the left side of his body and has no use of his hands. At this time, it is unknown if Bill will regain use of his hands or if he will ever be able to walk again. His wife is staying by his side, feeding him and trying to soothe his pain. Bill‘s spirits are very low right now as he is a man who uses his hands for his work and does not know how he is going to go back to work or support his family as the sole provider in his household. Although Bill has health insurance, many things are not covered under his policy. The med flight that took him to the emergency room is not covered and it is tens of thousands of dollars. Bill will be entering a rehabilitation facility for another month while they try to get back the use of his hands and hope to be able to work with Bill so that he can stand on his own and perhaps walk again one day. When Bill is released from the rehabilitation facility, he will come home, but he will need home healthcare for many months and in-home therapy. Bill’s two story home is going to have to be modified to allow for his handicap but unlike all of the work that has ever been done in the past, Bill will not be able to do any of these modifications to the house himself. Bill and his family are frightened and overwhelmed with this tragic situation and are trying to wrap their brains around their new normal. Bill‘s profession requires him to type and assemble computer equipment and install it in restaurants but this injury prevents him from being able to perform any of those functions. At this time, Bill and his wife have no idea when he will be able to return to work, and if he is able to return, to what capacity he will be able to work.

We are raising money to help Bill and his family adjust to these horrific circumstances. If you are in a position where you can help this family navigate through these uncertain times we encourage you to donate. Imagine if this were you or someone that you loved and your whole world was turned upside down with no idea if it would ever be put right again. If you called Bill and asked him for help, what would he do?

Probably everything in his power to help you.
