Hi, I am a 72-year-old male, diagnosed with advanced skin cancer. I'm living outside in a tent for the past few months since my rental went on the market. I haven't worked since January 2024 due to many treatments. I'm halfway through my chemo, with about 9 months left to complete. I came from Canada in 1975, applied for a social security number, was given a number, and started working. This year, I was denied SSI and advised to return home to Scotland, where I was born. Being Scots, I'm ineligible for any housing or food stamps. I get food from my local food bank; however, in the past year, I've lost 30 lbs. I have one or two friends who help with small amounts of cash to buy cooking gas.
