ABOUT 13 HOURS AHEAD-
13 Hours Ahead is a multi-screen video installation that explores the emotional and physical distance between an immigrant woman in the US and her mother in Japan. Through an observational approach, the installation explores themes of duty, sacrifice, cultural identity and familial longing. Overlapping visuals and immersive soundscapes parallels their lives across different locations and time zones. Subtle moments of daily life unfold to reveal the quiet weight of guilt and love that arise from choosing one's own path while feeling an unfulfilled responsibility to care for one's family. "13 Hours Ahead offers a poignant, sensorial reflection on modern immigration and cross-national caregiving.
