SACH Research Lab was launched from an idea and a passion to create meaningful, community-centered research that addresses health disparities and amplifies experiences that are often underrepresented in traditional research settings. As an independent research initiative, SACH Research is largely self-funded and sustained through personal contributions, volunteer efforts, and the dedication of students and collaborators who believe in the mission.
Our research continues to grow and our teams have opportunities to present findings at professional conferences and research platforms! A significant barrier is the cost of travel and conference participation. I am committed to ensuring my mentees have the opportunity to be the experts of their work, develop professionally, build relationships within the research community, and see their contributions represented on national and professional stages.
A typical conference presentation can require approximately $1,000–$1,200 per student, including:
Conference registration: $75–$250
Round-trip airfare: approximately $350
Hotel accommodations: approximately $500
Local transportation: approximately $50
For students, these expenses can be a substantial barrier to participation, even when they have been accepted to present their research. Donations to SACH Research Lab directly support our ability to offset these costs and help students participate in conferences where they can disseminate findings, gain mentorship, and contribute to the broader scientific community.
Any support you are able to give helps turn research into opportunity. By investing in SACH Research Lab, you are investing in the students who conduct it, the communities whose experiences inform it, and the future of more inclusive, community-centered science!
