Please help Pedja Dakić get treatments and conquer cancer

Dear Friends, Family, and People Out There Who Care,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m sharing a deeply personal chapter of our lives and asking for your help as we face an overwhelming challenge.

In October 2023, my husband Pedja, who is in his late forties and was once so strong and full of life, was diagnosed with stage 3 adenocarcinoma peritonei, a rare and aggressive cancer. This devastating news came just a month after he started experiencing mild symptoms—and while I was seven months pregnant with our beautiful baby girl.

Pedja has undergone three surgeries and several rounds of chemotherapy since his diagnosis, and despite his unwavering will to get better, we haven’t seen the improvement we had hoped for. His greatest wish is for our daughter to see him strong again, to be there to give her the father she deserves—one who will guide her through all the milestones of life. He longs to be there to hold her hand on her first day of school, cheer her on during her achievements, and offer wisdom and support as she grows into the incredible person we know she will become. From teaching her how to ride a bike to walking her down the aisle one day, Pedja dreams of being the father she can rely on every step of the way. His determination is truly inspiring, and we, as a family, are doing everything we can to put his metastatic cancer to rest and wake up his strength, like so many patients are managing to do with present day treatments.

Our oncologists now recommend that we seek specialized treatment abroad. Several doctors have directed us to Gustave Roussy - Cancer Institute in Paris, France, where advanced diagnostics and treatments for rare cancers like Pedja’s offer new hope.

This treatment could be a turning point in his fight against this aggressive disease. But the costs of the treatment, travel, and accommodation are overwhelming, aside of the cost we're facing here for additional treatments and we simply can’t manage them on our own. That’s why we are turning to you—our community of friends, family, and kindhearted supporters—for help through our GoFundMe campaign.

We want our baby girl to grow up with her father by her side, and we are determined to do everything in our power to make that happen.
