Donate Money for Ukraine Medical Supplies

As the war in Ukraine continues, the humanitarian crisis is worsening. As brutal campaigns of indiscriminate bombing have hit civilians in shelters, churches, and schools, aid workers are seeing increasing numbers of wounded refugees. Unfortunately, these additional assaults are happening as the initial wave of global humanitarian support is starting to wane. As a result, medical supplies for Ukraine are becoming harder and harder to source in Europe.

 

For this reason, I have made the decision to travel to the bordering country of Romania to help by delivering medical supplies to organizations that are facing scarcity of these life-saving supplies. While there, I will also provide as much in-person logistics support as I can.

 

Although I will self-fund all of my travel expenses, I’m raising money to provide life-saving IFAK medical kits, medicines, and other first-aid supplies to relief organizations and first responders in Romania. I will personally deliver these immediate medical supplies to Romania where they will be taken into Ukraine through a coalition of organizations, all addressing the humanitarian needs in Ukraine.

100% of the funds received will be used to support Ukrainian people in need and I will provide donors with continual updates showing how these medical supplies are procured, transported, and delivered to aid organizations helping in Ukraine. Any additional money raised will go toward the purchase of an ambulance to serve in Ukraine.

 

Some of you may be wondering how I have become involved in this humanitarian relief effort and how your donation will be used. Because I have traveled to Romania 3 times in the past, (Many of HostelManagement, HostelJobs, and HostelSnap programmers are located there) I have become connected with an organization called the Peace Action, Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR for short).

 

 

 

PATRIR is directly coordinating with all levels of actors in Ukraine, from national government and ministries to local and regional humanitarian coordination (government and civil society), hospitals and first line medical responders, and civil society organizations. They have a Ukraine Contact Team who is touch with them 24/7 and from which they come to understand the immediate humanitarian needs in Ukraine. Their work is to then source these needs, covering humanitarian goods, non-perishable food supplies, and especially medicines, and get them directly into Ukraine. They are transporting supplies to critical areas in Ukraine, and from there they are both used directly and also smuggled further into cities under siege.

 

 

 

PATRIR is also working to support shelters in Ukraine. While a lot of attention has been on refugees from Ukraine coming to neighboring countries like Romania (approx. 3 million now); there are far, far more refugees who are internally displaced inside Ukraine (figures from government and NGOs suggest this number of refugees may be over 8 million). This is bringing critical stress on cities and towns not designed to handle this many people. Additionally – Russian armed forces have been targeting food factories, pharmaceutical factories, and crippling critical infrastructure making it harder and harder for Ukraine to support itself. For this reason, PATRIR is supporting these shelters in Ukraine.
