On the morning of Sunday, September 14, 2025 India Rose Welborn gained her wings as she peacefully died at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House. She is survived by her son LJ Welborn, her mother Sharon Shipman, her father and step-mother Jimmy and Dee Welborn, and her brothers Eric Shipman and Forrest Welborn.

On July 25th, without warning, India had seizures. Masses were identified in her brain, and on July 31st, a brain biopsy confirmed the worst diagnosis of glioblastoma. While the diagnosis was fatal, for a couple weeks there was hope that intensive treatments might prolong her time with her son LJ. However, the cancer grew quickly and aggressively, and India went into hospice care September 6th.

This short time of fighting for her life, this short time to prepare her family to care for LJ after her passing, this short time to prepare her finances and legal documents, requires the assistance and support of those who love India, LJ, and those who are left here to grieve for and with them. LJ’s father and India’s husband Jerrold Welborn, died from a heart attack in June of 2019. Since then, India and LJ have lived with Grandma Sharon. Sharon will be LJ’s guardian so that he can have the constancy of family, home, and Bowie High School as he grows into adulthood. Please consider assisting Sharon in this difficult time of mourning to offset the medical, cremation, and funeral expenses. And LJ will need our support moving forward. Please consider donating to his future care and education. We are all devastated and heartbroken. Hug your loved ones and tell them how much you love them! Life can change in just an instant.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
