Donate in memory of Rachel Wagner

Wednesday, October 4 changed my cousin Zac's life forever. His fiancé Rachel Wagner went into the hospital after not feeling well Tuesday afternoon. By Wednesday morning, the doctors told him it was too late. She wouldn't make it. Tragically and unfortunately they were correct.

Rachel and Zac had (have) seven kids between the two of them: Alexis, Kelsey, Bella, Cole, Chloe, Claire and Emma. They are trying to deal with the shock of this loss. She left 7 children. Zac (my cousin and their dad) is a mess. He is a contractor, which means he only gets paid when he works. He is totally grief stricken right now. He will likely get back to work in the next couple weeks. They don’t have life insurance or medical insurance. The kids (and Dad) need grief counselling. There will also be a need for childcare while he works: someone to get the kids off the bus, and maybe dinner started during the school days- in the summer, someone to help watch the kids and care for them while he is working.

In full transparency, Rachel's older daughter started a smaller go fund me to help with immediate funeral expenses (and even that isn't enough to cover funeral costs). As an adult who has experienced loss and the costs and expenses that show up after the fact, I know the expenses will go well above and beyond the amount she requested. Zac will need to pay the extensive medical bills, along with the funeral expenses, and continuing to care for these 7 kiddos while missing work.
