On April 18th 2025, Priya Persaud passed away surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with leukemia. Her loss was sudden, unexpected, and profoundly felt by all who knew her — including her children, family, friends, and colleagues.

Prior to her illness, which began in the fall of 2024, Priya worked at a local Childcare Centre, where we came to know and deeply appreciate her. She was hired to provide one-on-one support for our son, enabling him to continue attending the aftercare program. In addition to this role, she also worked as an assistant in other programs, quickly becoming a valued and familiar presence to both the children and the staff. Priya and our son developed a close and meaningful bond; she cared for him with patience, kindness, and compassion. Her care extended beyond the expectations of her position. Just weeks before her passing, Priya made time while in the hospital to video call our son, demonstrating once again her remarkable warmth and nurturing for others.

Priya was a devoted mother and independent parent to Jaham, who is in his final year of high school, and Hanna, who works in the hospitality industry.

Priya’s care extended to all the children at the Centre, and her memory continues to live on in the lives she touched. In her honour, we have set up this GoFundMe page to raise money for her children. Funds raised will assist with expenses incurred during this difficult time and contribute to their future stability, including educational goals. Priya’s family will determine how best to utilize the donations in accordance with their needs and in a way that honours her wishes for her son and daughter.
