Donate in Memory of Maela Sharon Holmes

On June 22nd, 2002, Maela Holmes passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the young age of 11. Maela was an amazing kid who lived life to the fullest. She was a passionate hockey goalie for the Niagara Rapids and the Brock Jr. Badgers Girl’s Hockey. Maela was a go-getter and willing to try any adventure. She enjoyed making people laugh and dancing to any type of music. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her, especially her parents Dan and Leisha and her brother and best friend, Cael.

 

For those who know Dan and Leisha, one thing that immediately comes to mind is their commitment to helping others. Leisha is extremely passionate and committed to her employee wellness and reintegration roles with the NRPS. Leisha meets with co-workers on a daily basis and provides support to those who need assistance. Leisha and her support dog ‘sidekick’ Axel, go above and beyond to look after NRPS members. Dan is equally committed to helping his coworkers at the HPS. In 2019, Dan created the HPS Benevolent Fund, which assists employees and their families who are dealing with serious and life altering situations such as sickness or injury. Dan is currently the Chair of the Benevolent Fund and is very passionate about helping others and has volunteered countless hours to be there for HPS members during their times of need.

 

Dan and Leisha have dedicated their lives to supporting others. Now it’s our turn to step up and be there for them during this extremely difficult time. No parent should ever have to bury their child. We can all help by eliminating the financial burden of a funeral and celebration of life. This will allow Dan and Leisha to focus on their family as they learn to cope with such a devastating loss.
