Donate in memory of Kit Lane

Remarkable, maddening, brilliantly talented, stubborn, loving and tender, Kit Lane died on August 9th of natural causes.

This GFM page will raise the money estimated to cover the mortuary costs, and the travel and legal expenses necessary to close his estate. Kit's dear friend and good shepherd, Ernie Harris, is helping Kit's sister, Robin, who is flying to Santa Rosa to tie up the remaining loose ends.

We invite you to share stories and photos of Kit on this site, but the big ask is for money. Please donate what you can afford. It's been a long time, maybe forever, that Kit had enough money to take care of things properly. We are hoping to be able to make this different, in Kit's memory.

Kit, you wouldn't let us take care of you, while you were around. Now, you're just going to have to bear people expressing how much they cared about you, what an impact you had on their lives, how handsome you were, and how charming you could be. And what a remarkable musician you were!

Before he died, but anticipating the end, Kit implored me not to tell anyone when it happened, and, definitely, not make any kind of fuss about him. He had still not forgiven me for giving him a surprise birthday party 40 years ago.
