It’s never easy to relay tragic news but here we are. It is with complete and utter devastation that we announce the passing of Kate Nelson. A vibrant, loving, and kind-hearted woman who left everyone who came in contact with her ,with a smile on their face. Kate is someone who was well known and well thought of, she was a woman that held her faith steadfastly and always pulled from that faith to ensure that she was living by the golden rule. “Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you” Luke 6:31. She was committed to not only living in her community but supporting her larger community in as many ways as possible. She was a neighbor that could be counted on for everything from a small task or favor to just being a person willing and ready to listen.
Many of you know Kate from her dedication to working at the Boys & Girls club. She valued her work and more importantly the youth that she worked with. She was an ally to many, and a friend for young people who just wanted to feel loved and cared for. Kate Nelson was an asset to this community and she will be forever missed. More importantly Kate was a mother. She has three beautiful daughters; Haley Nelson, Sayvona Nelson and Kerra Brown ; whom she loved fiercely. She spent her life making sure her daughter's knew they were loved, wanted, respected and adored. Many of you will have had a conversation with Kate where she dropped in a line about one or all of daughters and how amazing they are. Kate was a true girl mom, in every sense of the phrase. She was a nurturer, a cheerleader, a protector to her daughters. Kate’s passing was sudden and devastating for her family but especially for Haley, Sayvona, and Kerra. There is no greater pain than losing a parent and they are shocked and utterly heartbroken. Kate's youngest daughter Kerra, is only seventeen and is now left bereft of hope at a time when her future would begin to open up and unfold. It’s never easy to ask for help, especially at a time of grief. We humbly ask you to help assist Kate's family in ensuring that her service is held up with respect and grace. The funeral expenses will be substantial and nearly impossible for Kate's daughters to carry alone. In addition Kerra will need support as she begins to navigate the challenge of deciding major decisions and responsibilities as she is graduating high school this spring. Kate was an incredible mother, friend,co-worker and community member. If you are able, please help in ensuring that Kate's transition to the everlasting life is smooth, and healing for her daughter’s and larger family.
