We need your help for Kaden Jace.
Our baby boy Kaden.
It was 3 weeks before delivery that mom was told he had Shones Complex HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome). Continuously informing the high risk of Kaden not making it to birth or a few seconds after.
Devastating and heart breaking not knowing the outcome. Because there are no heart surgeons in the RGV, he had to be delivered at Christus Sphone Hospital in Corpus Christi. February 13th, 2024 ❤️
Due to his rapid heart failure, Kaden was then rushed to Driscoll Children's Hospital where he coded.
Miraculously enough, he pulled through.
Still being told, "this is good, but you just never know. He may be good today, but anything can still happen". It was hard to be happy if he had a great day, cause we just never knew what was to come.
With so much struggles & trials, days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, getting extubated, yet intubated again, to a tracheostomy.
Then finally to making it to Kadens 1st Birthday. It was scary before and after his birthday as he was finally given the Norwood surgery 3 days before his birthday, and still being told he might not make it.
Seeing Kaden face so many obstacles was heroic that he was called several times by the hospital team, "Superman".
He pulled through... Slowly.
Seeing Baby Kaden go through so much pokes, tube's & wires, sedation, being paralyzed over and over and over, he kept on fighting . He was known for his beautiful smiles, his confused stares when grandma would sing to him, his constant eye rolling especially towards nurses who were just too perky, but most importantly, his need for Mom.
Oh how the hospital floor knew mom. When she'd walk down the hall back to Kaden, a warmth filled hearts cause that's how much love was in his room.
This is why is so much harder to let go.
It was becoming so normal such repetitivness with Kaden. Starting over with old meds to new, increasing/ decreasing oxygen and Nitric, to all over again and again and again.
Kaden called the shots. What he says, goes!. If he didn't like something, his body would tell us.
With complications, intubation and hooked on an ecmo machine after his Norwood surgery was of the essense.
Slowly and slowly... and slowly, he started to be his baby self.
The smiles were back. It was hard not to be excited. Could it be? Possibly put him back on his trach? Or even extubate?
Numbers were looking beautiful. Was Kaden finally close to coming home?

Until... April 27th, making it to 14 months.
His heart suddenly stopped
1 hour!
1 HOUR OF CPR, and still his heart was not going. That meant alot of things.
And No mom should have to see what had to be done to him that day.
And even with so much effort, he could not be saved.

Kaden will always be loved. Even 14 months old, he impacted his nurses and doctors.
Truly without the support from the hospital staff, he would not have come this far, but most importantly, mom.

Mom, It was time. I needed to go. Our lord in heaven came for me, and I needed to go. I'm not hurting anymore. I'm feeling better now. With your love, I will keep smiling for you mom. Thank you for not leaving my side and watching over me.
And Now it's my turn. I will watch over you and my big brother Korey. I love you mommy ❤️
