Hello, my name is Katie and I am writing this with a heavy heart that my mum, Joanne, passed away peacefully on May 8th, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with stage 4 small cell Lung Cancer. She was only 63 years young.

She leaves behind 2 daughters (Myself and Sam) and 2 beautiful grandchildren which were her everything.

The past year has been a challenging time for our family, with Mum being diagnosed in July 2024. Despite her poor prognosis, she showed remarkable strength and decided to undergo chemotherapy treatment. Unfortunately, her condition took a turn for the worse, and she was admitted to the ICU in December 2024. After a heroic fight, she made the extremely difficult decision to stop treatment, and unfortunately, the cancer became aggressive.

I, along with my sister Sam, had the privilege of being her primary caregivers during this challenging time, with Sam always being there to support us, and me living with Mum and providing daily care. We spent mums final weeks in hospital beside her, with one of us always there every single day.

As we navigate this grieving process, we are planning a cremation to acknowledge Mum's request, and to help with the associated costs, we have set up a GoFundMe page.

Any contribution you can make will be a great help in covering the expenses of the cremation. If we surpass our goal, any additional funds will assist with living expenses during this difficult time.
