J. Guadalupe Díaz hailed from El Calvario Municipio de Nuevo Urecho Michoacán.
Born on June 29th 1956 to Reynaldo Díaz Goméz y Josefa Magaña Barriga. Brother to Neptalí, Reynaldo, Efrain, Octavio, Leandra(late), María, and Ma. De los Angeles Díaz Magaña.

J. Guadalupe arrived in the U.S in 1973 (age of 17) and had a dream of building a family and having a home of his own. When he arrived he was initially a caregiver to his nieces and nephews. In 1981, J. Guadalupe met Marguerite Ann (Llanas maiden name) at El Casino Tropical on 26th Street, they dated and married on March 6th, 1982. Together they had four children, Rebecca(eldest), Isaac & Andrew(fraternal twins), and Angela(youngest).

J. Guadalupe was a hard working person, and actively sought out to learn the English language, after working different jobs, he decided to pursue a certification in machinery. He enjoyed machine work at American Rivet but often faced layoffs in the field. He went on to study for his CDL license and passed the exam with great joy but sacrificed his goal of driving commercial trucks because of the concern that he would spend too much time away from family.

He then worked in custodial services at CPS and in his last years of his life went back to work for a different companies doing machinist work then a packing company from which he was let go after suffering a hand injury with medical restrictions just a month or so before we learned of his illness.

J. Guadalupe felt strongly about education as a means to getting out of poverty. He encouraged his children to complete high school and pursue higher education. Having raised his family in Chicago in the inner city and being a working class family he was often concerned about their prosperity and outlook in life. As a dad, he tried to give all that he could despite being exhausted from his labor intensive jobs. He took his family to play basketball at the park, Wisconsin to pick strawberries/apples, Six Flags, zoo, beach etc.

His children have accomplished much more than even they could imagine with three bachelor degrees, a masters and license between the four of them. Rebecca works as a director of career programs helping others achieve their dreams of employment, Isaac serves as a 7th Grade Social Studies teacher, Andrew works as a Cook County Sheriff, and Angela launched a career in cosmetology. J. Guadalupe was very proud of all of their achievements and was even more excited when they began to marry and expand their families. Between the three eldest children, he has 5 biological grandchildren, 2 step and one more on the way. J. Guadalupe enjoyed playing with the grandchildren, and being surrounded by them.

We will forever miss J. Guadalupe Díaz's presence, he enjoyed barbecuing, maintaining his garden, watching futbol, wrestling, jogging at the park and having his family visit at his house that he worked so hard for. J. Guadalupe also took great care of his health especially after being diagnosed with diabetes around the age of 40. He began eating healthy, maintained a healthy active life, never smoked, and discontinued any occasional drinking.

On February 23rd 2022, J. Guadalupe went to visit his doctor after noticing a decrease in appetite and weight loss. After taking some blood work, they asked him to admit himself into the hospital. Soon after they discovered a tumor in his liver and later diagnosed him with cancer (source and origin unknown). The tumor itself had an infection and received some relief after switching hospitals. However, the cancer was too advanced for any treatment and J. Guadalupe wanted nothing more to be at home with his wife and family. J. Guadalupe returned home on hospice care on Friday, April 15th (Good Friday) just in time to celebrate the Easter holiday with loved ones.

On April 26th, 2022, at 3pm, J. Guadalupe Díaz
