Francisco "Frank" Toro, Jr - Memorial Service Fund

We have suffered a great loss:

After a 28 day battle in the ICU we have lost our Father, he suffered a massive stroke on December 13th, 2023 and through the holidays he was fighting for his life. We spent Christmas and New Years day alongside him in the Intensive Care Unit as he fought the battle of his lifetime. Sadly on January 10th, 2024 I got a call that his right lung collapsed and shortly after his heart stopped. Our dad was a man of service that truly gave all that he could give and he was tired. He was called home and is now at rest.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in memory of Frank and his generosity to be put towards the memorial service fund. Many people have asked to help and where to send flowers.

We created this Go Fund Me link for convenience as it will be the easiest way for out of town people to contribute. We will also be accepting donations at the service if that is easier for anyone.

OBITUARY:

Francisco "Frank" Toro Jr., a treasured member of the Tampa community and former Boston police officer who broke barriers as the second Hispanic officer in the city's history, passed away on January 10, 2024, due to a stroke. Born on September 22, 1951, in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, Frank moved to Boston, where he served with distinction before settling into a warm and caring neighborhood in Tampa, Florida.

In his professional journey, Frank not only made his mark in law enforcement but also excelled as a skilled tradesman. Alongside his police work, he became a certified HVAC technician and licensed electrician, roles where he demonstrated the same dedication and integrity that marked his time on the force. His meticulous work and expertise ensured that the homes and hearts of those around him were always warm and bright.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Frank was a neighborhood hero. Known for his selflessness and generosity, he took great joy in lending a hand. Whether it was fixing a broken appliance or mowing a lawn for a neighbor who was out of town, Frank took on each task with genuine excitement. His passion for helping others was only matched by his profound love and care for his family. A devoted father to five children, who, along with many others, saw him as a father figure, Frank nurtured a loving home where solidarity, respect, and love were the foundation.

As a grandfather, Frank, affectionately known as "Papa," was nothing short of amazing. He shared an unbreakable bond with his eleven grandchildren, imparting wisdom and laughter in abundant measure. His life lessons and stories will undoubtedly continue to resonate and guide them through their own journeys.

Frank's vigor in his youth was channeled into a lifelong commitment to health and fitness. His physical strength—a symbol of his readiness to tackle life's challenges—was indicative of the inner resilience that defined him. Adept at living off the land, his love of nature flourished into a passion for landscaping, and his hands lovingly tended to a variety of fruit trees that he was proud to cultivate and share with others.

Passionate about every endeavor, Frank lived his life fully and selflessly, always serving as a fountain of generosity. His community felt the ripple effects of his kindness, as he infused the lives of those around him with positive energy and purpose. A man of the earth, he had a deep connection with the natural world, inspiring a sense of wonder and respect for the environment.

Frank will be remembered as a man of extraordinary character—passionate, generous, selfless. His legacy is not merely in the actions he took or the careers he pursued but in the indelible impact he left on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His infectious enthusiasm for life, his unwavering dedication to service, and his boundless capacity for love have forever imprinted on the tapestry of his community.

As the soft breeze carries the fragrance of his cherished fruit trees, let us take a moment to reflect on the life of Francisco "Frank" Toro Jr., a man who cultivated beauty, love, and strength in every corner of his world. While his physical presence is deeply missed, his spirit lives on—guiding, inspiring, and reminding us of the beauty of a life well-lived.
