It is with heavy hearts that we are sharing the tragic passing of Derek Frempong. He was a fun-loving and compassionate human being who touched the lives of many people that he encountered. He passed away into God’s hands on September 13, 2025, while working alongside his family.

Derek, born November 11, 1995, was a hard worker who excelled in Computer Science during high school at Cardinal Newman, before completing his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto Scarborough for Statistical Machine Learning and Data Science. While pursuing his dreams in data science, Derek would always devote time to support and help his family with the family business.

Derek was someone who lit up the room with his vibrant energy and infectious laugh. To everyone he met, he was always welcoming and caring. He may not have shared a lot in what he said, but shared who he was in the actions and memories he created with the people around him. He was many things: loyal to his friends and family, dedicated to the pursuits that he chose to do, and a constant source of both knowledge and friendship. He showed an unconditional willingness to support those he cared about, even if it meant dropping what he was doing.

The family is devastated by the untimely loss of their child and sibling. We kindly ask for your support through this GoFundMe campaign.
