Coy Jensen and his dad, Josh Pilch, had a fatal accident while driving near Sandpoint, Idaho, on Memorial Day 2026.

Coy had a gift for making people feel cared for and loved. His laugh was contagious, his smile could light up any room, and he freely gave hugs that made others feel valued and important. He was thoughtful, compassionate, and always looking for ways to lift and encourage those around him. Even during difficult times and the hardest swim practices, Coy still found a way to smile and help others keep going. He loved with his whole heart, and the light and kindness he shared left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Coy participated at his church, swim team, was "Student of the Month" at SHS in Jan of this year, and he was supposed to walk at his graduation with high honors from Sandpoint High School this coming week. Coy was leaving on a 2-year mission to Chile at the end of this summer. He will now be serving from the other side.

Josh was the kind of man who would help at the drop of a hat—loyal, hardworking, and fiercely independent. Rough around the edges but full of heart, he loved God, treasured his freedom, and above all, loved his 8 children. He was genuine to the core: if he cared about you, you knew it, and if he didn’t, he wouldn’t pretend. His passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of his family, friends, and especially the children he loved so deeply.

Josh and Coy are survived by their large family, including Coy's mom and Josh's wife, Kim Pilch, Chad Jensen, and kids: Mailee, McKinley, Bennett, Myelle, Georgia, Haven, and Bode.

The family will be dealing with all kinds of burdens, including financial, in this new reality without Josh and Coy. Please support them through this very difficult transition if you can.
