Andrews Nchessie from Malawi was a highly respected and inspirational teacher who passed away on December 21. He leaves behind his wife and five children, whom we would like to support during this very difficult time.

Andrews was a visionary educator and a dear friend to many around the world. His work went far beyond the classroom. He received presidential awards in recognition of his exceptional contribution to education and community development in Malawi. In 2015, he was recognized as part of the Global Teacher Prize community, which reflected his deep commitment to teaching and leadership.

One of Andrews’ greatest missions was environmental action. He dedicated his life to planting millions of trees across Malawi, believing strongly in the power of education to drive climate action and long-term change. His legacy lives on through the learners he inspired, the forests he helped grow, and the global community he touched.
