Donate in memory of Alice

We are raising money for Allsorts and Gendered Intelligence in memory of our daughter and sister Alice, who died by suicide on 26th May.

Allsorts is an LGBT youth charity based in Brighton, where Alice lived for the last nine months of her life. They started supporting our family in the summer of 2019, soon after Alice's first suicide attempt. A lot of things made Alice's transition difficult - impossibly long NHS waitlists, the lack of appropriate medical expertise and care, and the hostility of wider society. Allsorts was an organisation which made it easier. Their parent support group was instrumental in enabling Caroline and Peter to give Alice all the love and understanding she deserved. Allsorts are continuing to support Alice's family with bereavement counselling.

Gendered Intelligence works to increase understanding of gender diversity and improve the lives of trans people. They have led campaigns such as '#TrusstMe', which was launched following the leaked announcement that the Government was planning to scrap the reform of the Gender Recognition Act and further exclude trans people from public life. While we will never be able to fully understand why Alice made the decision to end her life, we believe that the hostility of society to trans people made it harder for Alice to imagine a happy future for herself. This is why it's important for us to support organisations which campaign for broader societal change, as well as providing direct support to young trans people and their families.

Please note that this is set up as a personal fundraiser as major fundraising platforms do not currently allow for charity fundraisers to be split between two charities. Funds will be split evenly between the two organisations and 100% of the money received will be donated. GoFundMe takes a 2.9% fee.
