Donate & Help Troy Milstead Sunken Boat Expenses

Hello Friends, my name is Sarah Potenza. I've created this GoFundMe for my boyfriend and partner Mr. Troy Milstead. On the morning of Friday January 5th 2024 Troy's boat Virginia, a 1978 Silverton suddenly sank in Old Harbor Block Island. Troy desperately tried to save the boat but unfortunately she took on water fast and it went down quickly. He tried to recover personal belongings and work tools as the boat sank but was not fully successful in doing so. Things progressed and happened quickly, but he was able to get off the boat safely before she sank below the waters surface.

Troy's boat Virginia (named after his beloved home state) was his home for 5 months out of the year. The boat was his happy place, his place of comfort and solace during the busy summer season. Anyone who knows Troy knows you can always find him tinkering on his boat and as well as on the Old Harbor docks, communing with locals and visiting boaters alike. Troy LOVES the boating life, his Block Island community and Old harbor. He's passionate about the ocean, and this beautiful island. As well the simple pleasures of fishing, being on the water and his friendships with many people. You can always count on Troy for a witty one liner and a tasty cocktail with a friendly hello and smile at Yellow Kittens or Winfield's. Or a willing helping hand on marine projects... (He always has a tools for that)! As a 30 plus year- round community member Troy has raised his son Sawyer here on Block Island and continues to immerse himself in this wonderful community.

Although Troy does carry the required minimal liability insurance on his boat there are many other unforeseen expenses that will need to be taken care of. 100% of the donated funds will go DIRECLTY to and be used towards the substantial costs of associated with salvage, recovery and proper disposal of the boat. This experience has been challenging but with the support of friends, family and loved one life will solder on, and hopefully some stressors will be eased. Troy is thankful to all who have helped thus far and to everyone who has expressed their love, care, support and well wishes during the past months. He is overwhelmed by the greatness in this Block Island community. Please kindly consider donating and sharing with people in your circle.
