My name is Mikaela, and I am raising money for a CT scan for my rabbit, Zahara. She had uterine cancer in 2022 and underwent a hysterectomy to remove the cancer. Unfortunately, her third eyelid started showing this year, which is indicative of a thymoma. After an emergent x-ray last month, it was determined that she has a tumor, this time close to her heart. She had been acting strange, hiding more, and seemingly in pain. She has been started on prednisolone, which I give daily now. It has made a major improvement in her activity; she is running around again! After a referral, I took her to Pieper Hill Vet to see the exotic animal specialists. They found inflammation around her ears and noticed she is unable to blink her right eye. They infer this could be from middle ear disease of both ears, a surgical procedure that will cost thousands to remove infected tissue, along with preventative measures to ensure it's less likely to happen in the future. To diagnose and treat, it requires a CT scan of her whole body. I've already spent nearly a thousand dollars this year in vet bills and appointments, and bloodwork. In the estimate given, the total for the CT scan comes out to almost $1.6k on the low end - 2.5k on the high end.

I have a scheduled date of October 2, at 8 am to do the CT scan. She is approved after her labs came back. Dr. Sojka had told me after the CT scan, they can perform surgery on her ears to remove the diseased tissue if it is middle ear disease which I absolutely will. That will probably cost upwards of $4000. I can only imagine the pain she is in... Since I got her 10 years ago, she has been the best thing that has happened to me! She single-handedly saved me from a deep depression I was going through, and I will do whatever I can to make her comfortable. I plan to treat her heart tumor conservatively, as I do not believe she would have much of a chance of survival if they surgically tried to remove the tumor. She deserves a life with proper medical treatment, and no matter what, I will make sure she gets the best care.
