On March 3, 2025 Wade Adams Howe was born to Olivia and Dietrich Howe. At birth it was discovered that Wade had aortic stenosis and was sent to the Childrens Hospital. On March 4 Wade had a balloon aortic valvuloplasty done which narrowed the blockage from 90% to 45-50% (Normal is 0-3%). After this it was expected that Wade would need a repeat of this procedure within the next year along with still having leakage in his heart. On March 12 Wade was discharged from the hospital and got to go home.
On April 4 Wade was sent back to the Childrens Hospital due to increased heart rate, fluid in his lungs, decreased hemoglobin, and an increase in breathing. On April 9 Wade got his second aortic balloon procedure and got 2 balloons. This reduced the gradient from 50% to 13%. However, there was more blood leakage in his mitral valve. As of April 11 it is planned for Wade to have heart surgery next week. The care team is meeting on Monday April 14 to plan the best approach. The ROSS procedure is not recommended due to the severe leaking in the valves. He is currently in the ICU on the cardiovascular floor.
