Two years ago, Tyler was in a terrible single car accident.
They told his family to expect the worst, that he would have no quality of life, that he would not remember them, or himself or really anything at all.
They chose to fight for Tyler's life anyways.
Tyler spent months in hospitals, living facilities, and rehabs before his insurance no longer would cover the help he desperately needed and he was sent home.
Tyler was no where near ready to come home. He was making amazing progress, but was not ready.
Today, Tyler still struggles with memory loss, aphasia, and a nerve injury that makes him immobile on his right side. He is 100% dependent on his caretakers, but he has quality of life. He remembers himself, and his family. Through intensive therapy, and memory work Tyler is slowly making a recovery. He works so hard in everything that comes his way. He wants more independence, and his therapies are vital to achieving that goal. It is of the utmost importance to us as his caregivers!
Hi, my name is Samantha, and my Husband Alex and I are the full time caregivers of Tyler. My husband quit his job last year to take care of Tyler full time, and things financially since then have been tight, but we have been making it work.
Tyler has a manual wheelchair, and we use that to transport him to therapy twice a week as well as other appointments and outings. However Tyler also has an electric wheelchair that doesn't see much use, due to our vehicle not being accessible.
On top of our vehicle lacking accessibility, it is old and running poorly. So we are looking into getting a pre-owned, already converted wheelchair accessible van to meet Tyler's needs better. Which brings me to a gofundme. We are looking to raise $10,000 to go toward a converted wheelchair accessible van, and we believe that with your help we can reach this goal!
We are working closely with a dealership that specializes in converted accessibility vehicles, and they are helping us with financing options, and a possible grant, but a huge step in the process is crowdfunding and we were heavily encouraged to fundraise for a portion of the costs.
We aim to give Tyler the highest quality of care we can muster, and with our transportation issues, it is proving difficult to manage. We pray our community will help us with our endeavor, by sharing this fundraiser and donating if possible.
We thank you for your kindness, and consideration!
