Bless Jake’s Heart

Hi, my name is Lori Loveless and I have started this GoFundMe with permission from Lisa Loveless, Jake’s mom.

Jake Anstey, 10 years old, went into cardiac arrest on Monday, January 9th at 2:04pm. Since that time, Jake had to be airlifted to Halifax, where he was on life support with help from the ECMO machine. As of January 12th, Jake has been taken off the ECMO machine and is breathing on his own. While this is an extreme improvement, Jake still has a long ways to go and his family has to be with him while he recovers in Halifax.

Lisa & Jon, Jake’s loving parents, have to stop working to be by Jake’s side and according to Jake’s doctors, they will be staying in Halifax for a long time while Jake recovers. Jake still has many obstacles to overcome: he may have trauma to his lungs and to his kidneys and at this moment, we are unclear if he suffered any brain damage from this ordeal. Due to Jake’s pace maker, we are unable to under go a brain scan, which requires an MRI, so our main concern at this time is to see if he suffered any brain damage. We have to wait until Jake wakes to determine this so it may take a while.

We would like to start this GoFundMe for Jake’s parents and for Jake’s big brother, Noah, while they have to reside in Halifax to help with expenses such as meals, accommodations and other needs while they care for their son who is still in critical condition.

Jake loves his life and every cent helps this family while they are dealing with this. No parent deserves this and we are still asking for your prayers and to keep Jake in your thoughts as he continues his journey to recovery.
