On Sunday, August 24th, my closest friend, Shawn Kelley, had a motorcycle accident and has suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury resulting in paralysis below the waist. This has become a life-altering event. As with most new beginnings, he and his family could never have prepared for this. I'm organizing this page for Shawn and his wife, Brandi. Shawn has friends and family that love and support him endlessly. But what he needs most right now is for all of us to come together to help him transition into his "new normal".

For those that know, Shawn and Brandi have organized events, motorcycle rides, and numerous other functions to help those in need in our community. Collectively, they have raised thousands of dollars for others. This family needs our blessings in return.

Shawn is retired law enforcement and currently works for Alabama Power Company. He and Brandi have great medical insurance. This effort isn't solely about providing for medical costs, but there is an immediate need for means of wheelchair-accessible transportation, and home adjustments to assist Brandi and Shawn move into this chapter of their lives.
