On Friday, April 25th, while on her way to a morning yoga class during a bachelorette vacation in Sayulita, Mexico, Shalini and three of her close friends were involved in a serious golf cart accident. All four were rushed to the hospital. Thankfully, three of them have been treated and have returned home. Shalini, however, remains in critical care.
Friday night, she underwent an emergency craniectomy, and on Sunday she required a second craniectomy. While the two emergency brain surgeries have been devastating, her body is holding up well and she is fighting. She is so strong and full of life, as we all know.
Overall, the neurosurgeon is very optimistic about how she’s responding to her operations. For now, she will remain sedated until Wednesday night or Thursday morning (April 30/May 1).
We don’t know exactly what the road ahead looks like, but we are holding onto hope and surrounding Shalini with all the love, strength, and prayers we can.
She is receiving care from an incredible medical team at the emergency center in Punta Mita, and her family and friends are by her side, surrounding her with love and support.
We ask all of you — those who know and love Shalini — to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
For those of you who want to do more, the emergency transportation back to her family in Washington DC is not covered by insurance and will cost somewhere in the range of $50,000. We can use your help.
Whether you have only the means for prayer or want to give more, Shalini's family is so grateful for your support.
You can follow her progress here:
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Laura Ashley (friend of the family)
