Hi All. Once again, cancer has struck home. My son Sean Patrick has been diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma, stage 2. It is rare and most aggressive. He is almost 36 years old. He has been a first responder for most of his adult life. Police/Fire/EMS/Security has been his life's passion. He also has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and has been under care for several years. After a recent procedure to put stents into the ventricles of his heart, his cancer was initially found. Further testing confirmed the diagnosis and treatment began almost immediately. He began treatment and had complications with IV chemo. Because of his HCM, he could not tolerate a port or PICC line. He now is on 4 different chemo pills two times a week for 6 months. Further testing will be done to see if the treatment is working. This could all change at any time due to his HCM.
I am writing this for words of support and prayers for my son. He is a good boy and I can't do anything to help him except do my best to remain positive and calm. He is in North Carolina and has great care.
Now, the hard news. He has no health insurance. He was on his husband's plan; however, there has been a change and he no longer has coverage. He has received a grant which covers about 2/3 of the cost. He will need another $25k to pay for the rest. Hopefully, he will be in remission by then. But, there still is a ton of ongoing medical expenses for both cardiac and oncology. I will be creating a GoFundMe account once I figure out how to do it.
Please consider my son. I hope that I have shown my compassion and generosity when needed. Now, I/we need your help.
Thank you in advance. And, my love for my family and friends will not waver if you cannot donate. I know life is hard for many. I get it.
