My name is Taylor. I am a teacher. I am obsessed with animals, especially my 3 fur babies; Sadie (cat), Oscar (cat) and Ollie (Catahoula/Black Mouth Cur mix). I rescued Sadie in 2015, Oscar in 2017 and Ollie in 2019.
In 2021, I had to move out of the living situation I was in and unfortunately I got into some debt, especially because Sadie and Oscar got diagnosed with Kidney Disease. Ever since, I have been trying to provide for myself and my 3 fur babies.
I had a miracle come through and I was able to buy a condo in March 2022. This past year, I was able to sell my condo to pay off some of the debt and move in with my mom. I am paying off the rest now with a debt consolidation program. I am also paying off credit cards. Because my other credit cards got tied up in the debt consolidation process, which temporarily lowered my credit score, I cannot get a CARE credit card to help pay for vet bills and my limits will not pay for the care I need for Sadie.
The care I am looking to fund is for Sadie who has also been diagnosed with cancer. We found out because she got 2 mammary tumors/glands removed and tested. The histological grade is low and the mitotic index is less than 2/high power field. It is feline ductal carcinoma, grade 1. One is with prominent squamous differentiation and keratinization, duct dilation and comedo-like areas. The second is with squamous differentiation and keratinization.
"In this case, tumors in both the right and left mammary chain have microscopic characteristics of a low grade (well-differentiated) carcinoma. While these tumors appear to be well-differentiated, the multifocal nature in both mammary chains and prominent squamous differentiation mixed with comedo-like areas are concerning for potentially more aggressive behavior. "
The next steps are to get an aspiration of the lymph nodes and an x-ray of her lungs to see if the cancer has spread which is around $2000. There is no current invasion of blood vessels. The vet is also recommending (to finish) the mastectomy which is around $5500, which helps to improve the prognosis.
I was fortunate enough to switch schools in October and get a job closer to home. However, unfortunately, I cannot get paid through the summer because I didn't start this position at the beginning of the school year. I need to save for Sadie's treatment and find a summer job that will support me until the end of August/early September. I used some of the money I saved for the summer for the first surgery (tumor/gland removal).
I want to do what's best for Sadie. She has been there for me through so much. I don't want her to suffer. She's my pretty baby girl, my first fur baby, and I don't want to let her down.
I have applied for 2 grants so far (The Pet Fund and Brown Dog Foundation) and I will be finding and applying for more.
If you are in a place to help, I would appreciate it so much. Sharing the fundraiser would also be really helpful. Thank you so much, I appreciate you.
May you (and yours) be well.
