On July 10, 2025, Ron Lloyd had a heart attack and it was found he had a blocked artery behind his heart. Despite several hours and 2 different surgeons, they were not able to place a stent in that artery, but his doctors were confident they could treat the blockage with medication and that his other artery would compensate. He showed no heart damage and was scheduled to be released from the hospital on Saturday, July 12th.
And then tragedy struck. Saturday morning Ron suffered a stroke and serious brain bleed on the right side of his brain. Thankfully it was caught early and the neuro surgeon was able to retrieve the clot, get the bleed to stop, and ultimately save his life.
Since July 12th, Ron has been in ICU at St. Alphonsus in Boise. He is semi-coherent and has very minimal brain damage, defying many of the initial prognoses of his doctors, and is making progress every day. He is able to follow commands and has even started to be able to open his eyes on command, as the area of the bleed affects that specific motor control. However, he still requires air support through a ventilator, which is complicating his recovery and movement out of ICU.
Ron has a very long road ahead of him, one which requires him to go to a long term care facility to get off the ventilator he still needs and eventually rehabilitation. Insurance is denying his claim to attend a long term care facility and he needs our help. His care and medical bills will have to be paid for out of pocket.
If you can, please donate to help with his long term care and medical bills. If you can't donate, please share his GoFundMe with others. Ron has always been there to support his friends and family in need. He retired from Caldwell Fire Department after 27 years of service. This is an opportunity for us to return the favor.
