My name is Patrick and I am from North Carolina. Living with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) has profoundly shaped my life across physical, mental, and emotional dimensions. The inability to engage in the sports I cherish or attend certain events due to lack of accessibility has been disheartening. At times, I have found myself questioning, “Why me?” Yet, amidst the numerous challenges that SMA presents, I have emerged as the person I am today. It has ignited within me an unwavering desire for greatness and a commitment to be a beacon of hope for others. Rather than succumbing to excuses for my limitations, I have sought to forge pathways that enable me to
transcend them.
I am currently engaged in the field of education, where I assist students in preparing for significant examinations such as the LSAT. My interests are diverse, encompassing sports, gaming—where I have recently begun streaming my game play—financial markets, and collecting sneakers. I also have a deep appreciation for music and a fondness for all things related to comics and anime. Currently, I am in the process of returning to school to pursue an MBA. I also served as an MDA Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
For over 15 years, I’ve been living with a condition that has significantly impacted my daily life. I’m raising $4,700 to undergo a coronoidectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the coronoid process from my mandible (lower jaw). This issue has caused several issues, limited my ability to speak and eat comfortably, and greatly affected my quality of life.
With your support, I can take this important step toward improving my health and well-being. Thank you for helping me on this journey!
