HELP LITTLE LAZARUS FIGHT FOR HIS LIFE

We are reaching out to you with full hearts and open hands on behalf of our beautiful baby boy, Lazarus—a true fighter who has endured more in his first few months of life than most of us will in a lifetime.

Born with Complex Congenital Conditions

Shortly after birth, Lazarus was diagnosed with complex congenital heart disease, a life-threatening condition that affects the structure and function of his heart. After extensive testing and imaging, we learned he also has heterotaxy syndrome—a rare condition where his internal organs are arranged abnormally. These complications alone were enough to overwhelm us a family

But Lazarus's challenging journey didn’t stop there.

Unexpected Challenges and a Rare Diagnosis

In his earliest weeks, Lazarus underwent multiple critical procedures, including major open heart surgery and the placement of a stent to improve blood flow to his lungs. He also suffered from bilateral pleural effusions (dangerous fluid buildup around his lungs ) requiring chest tubes and intubation which put his life yet again at risk. One episode was likely triggered by the natural fat content in breast milk, leading us to switch him to a fat-free formula to stabilize his condition.

Even after surviving these life-threatening complications, something still wasn’t right. Lazarus struggled to clear his airways and developed a persistent cough. Eventually, doctors diagnosed him with Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD)—a rare, lifelong genetic disorder that severely affects lung function and the body’s ability to clear mucus. PCD often goes hand in hand with heterotaxy, but it was only confirmed after extensive respiratory interventions, including a bronchoscopy.

Why we are asking for help

Lazarus’s care is constant, complex, and emotionally and financially exhausting. His medical needs include:

Despite the tubes, machines, and hospital walls, Lazarus is full of light. He smiles. He fights. He reminds us every single day that miracles are real. His name means “God has helped,” and we believe with all our hearts that help continues to come—in part, through people like you.
