My mother has a condition called Alpha-gal syndrome, which is a type of food allergy caused by a tick bite. It makes people allergic to read meat and other products derived from mammals. My mom has had this condition for several years, and it seems to be worsening. This condition has greatly impacted her daily life and causes her to have multiple allergic reactions sometimes daily. There is a plethora of things that she cannot consume or even be exposed to. She has to live in a "bubble," essentially, and spend many days sick. She cannot even go to restaurants without getting sick from the fumes of meat or mammal products. She often relies on Benadryl to help get through these allergic reactions, but sometimes Benadryl isn't strong enough. However, her condition has worsened to the point that Benadryl and all other allergy medications are no longer the answer.
Currently, she has been experiencing an extreme allergic reaction that has been causing her to break out in hives all over her body, have gastrointestinal issues, and overall feel uncomfortable. We are unsure what is causing this specific allergic reaction, but it has been the worst episode she has had since developing this condition.
I hope to raise money so she can get an EpiPen to help her current allergic reaction and/or future episodes. Anything could help! Please share!
