If you know my mom, you know she has always put others first and rarely asks for help. She’s spent most of her life giving, even when it meant sacrificing her own needs. Now, she’s facing a difficult season.

After nearly five years of being passed from one medical provider to another with no real answers — just more medications and side effects — she finally found an internal medicine doctor who is truly helping her. But the journey has taken a toll.

My mom suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis, which has made it difficult for her to walk. She now uses a walker and is awaiting knee replacement surgery. On top of this, she’s recently experienced significant hearing loss and needs hearing aids. Due to her worsening condition, she had to leave a job she loved and take early retirement — something that was not in her plans.

Recently, her insurance changed, leaving her with overwhelming medical expenses. She now has a high deductible plan and one of the biologic medications costs over $10,000 — and her new insurance is refusing to cover it.
