Mochi has a liver issue that has led to neurologic and kidney complications. The cause is likely a porto-systemic shunt, which causes blood that should be detoxified by the liver to enter the main circulation too soon. This has caused kidney stones, which led to a kidney blockage and infection requiring ICU level of care, and she had stents placed in the tubes from the kidneys to the bladder. She also had a build up of ammonia in the blood which as affected her brain, causing confusion and seizure. This can ultimately be treated by correcting the shunt by having surgery. The costs are staggering, but the vet team has said with treatment the prognosis is very good for a normal, healthy lifespan. She means the world to me, and there's nothing I wouldn't do for her as long as it didn't unnecessarily prolong her suffering. Please consider donating to help pay her medical bills. Any amount would be extremely generous and greatly appreciated. Thank you!
