Donate for Mitchell's Liver Transplant and Recovery Expenses
Donation protected
Late February, just 5 months after his dad’s heartbreaking loss to pancreatic cancer, Mitchell was admitted to the hospital with acute colitis from septic shock and E. coli bacteremia (in the bloodstream). During his admission, he lost his pulse for 10 minutes during a PEA arrest, (type of cardiac arrest).
He was placed on a ventilator in critical condition for close to one month. He had a tracheostomy in order to wean his ventilator. He had ARDS, (acute respiratory distress syndrome), acute kidney injury, and acute liver failure.
Miraculously, he began to recover and was doing well living with his mom, Debbie, who is working full time while also making sure Mitchell gets the care he needs. Mitchell’s sister, Breanne, has also been there to help her mom and brother and has been a great source of help given her background as a critical care pharmacist. While things were looking up for Mitchell’s prognosis, he had a major setback and was diagnosed with chronic liver failure and is currently hospitalized at MUSC awaiting a liver transplant.
Once he is blessed with a donor liver, he will remain at the hospital for 1.5 weeks and upon release will need to recover in close proximity to the hospital for 3 weeks.
Due to his illness, he has not been able to work and is eager to get back to it once he is able.
In addition to his extensive medical bills, he will incur at least 3 weeks of lodging expenses.
On behalf of his family, we thank you so much for your prayers and support.
