Michelle was diagnosed with stage 4 oral cancer in Aug 2023. Five days later, she was on an operating table receiving a flap repair and tumor extraction, followed by 6 weeks (30 doses) of radiation. This led to a 3-month remission. Back in December 2023, she became symptomatic again and began the tests for follow-up with poor results.

This past March, Michelle's follow-up appointment found that her cancer had returned and aggressively, migrating to her lower jaw, neck, and lymph nodes. Since April, she has been through a battery of more tests, which she is receiving at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. She has found assistance with lodging at the Hope Lodge in NYC for no cost. However, her disability doesn't cover travel, caregiver, and grocery expenses, and she is asking for our help so that she may be able to afford and receive the Proton Beam Radiation that is specialized in NYC and not provided here in Albany to give her a fighting chance.
